Emergency Medicine Physician Wanted for Locum Coverage in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medicine physician to provide locum coverage at Yarmouth Regional Hospital, located in the beautiful town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a regional hospital that serves a population of approximately 60,000 people across three counties. Our team provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, out-patient, and satellite programs, including:
- Dalhousie School of Nursing
- Veteran's unit
- Chronic pain clinic
- Kidney clinic
We offer a comprehensive range of services, including alternate level of care unit, ambulatory care, anesthesiology, cancer care centre, cardiac investigation and respiratory services, continuing care, diabetes education, diagnostic imaging, dialysis, emergency medicine, falls prevention, intensive care unit, mental health and addictions services, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational therapy, palliative care, physiotherapy, pre-natal clinic, public health, recreation therapy, spiritual care, stroke program, and surgical unit.
Responsibilities- Examine patients, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
- Advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention
- Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
- Act as a patient advocate
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
This is a full-time position, with the successful candidate expected to work a regular schedule.
Requirements- Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification would be considered an asset
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Emergency department experience an asset
As a valued member of our team, you will receive competitive compensation and benefits, including:
- A base salary ranging from $250,000 to $350,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Relocation assistance up to $10,000
- Accommodations at 50% to a maximum of $150 per night, receipts must be provided for reimbursement
- Airfare to and from Nova Scotia, where required, 50% covered at regular economy fare up to a maximum of $1,500, receipts must be provided for reimbursement
- Travel time at $50 per hour up to a maximum of 10 hours return (5 hours each way) per week
Licensing fees will also be reimbursed, including the CPSNS Atlantic Registry license fee and the CPSNS locum license fee.
