Dean of Faculty Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of Faculty at the University College of the North. As a key member of our Senior Academic Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in shaping the academic direction of our institution and fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Faculty of Arts, Business, and Science, aligning our academic programs with the university's strategic priorities.
  • Develop and implement effective academic policies and procedures, ensuring a high-quality learning environment for students.
  • Lead and manage a team of faculty members, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, industry partners, and government agencies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of academic programs, ensuring they are responsive to the needs of northern communities and aligned with the university's mission and values.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Several years of academic leadership and management experience in a post-secondary education environment.
  • Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives and providing solutions to complex challenges.
  • Experience working effectively with Indigenous peoples and northern residents, with a commitment to reconciliation and cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate faculty members and staff.
  • Ability to understand and address the unique needs and challenges of adult learners in northern and Indigenous communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in teaching, research, and/or scholarly activity, with a commitment to service and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and experience managing change initiatives.
