Job Title: Strategic Director of Linguistic Services

Job Summary

The Strategic Director of Linguistic Services leads a team of professionals in supporting the francization of operations and major projects to achieve the company's strategies at Sun Life Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the department's strategic direction to meet the company's translation and francization needs.
  • Set Linguistic Services objectives to support corporate strategies.
  • Plan and manage the department's service budget effectively.
  • Manage external supplier relations and training.
  • Keep abreast of technological tools to improve work methods.
  • Manage and supervise a team of managers and revisers.
  • Evaluate the performance of direct reports and oversee the entire evaluation process.
  • Manage change and drive continuous improvement in work methods and service delivery.
  • Provide advice to partners on major projects.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience managing a translation department and in budgetary and strategic planning.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in supervising and training staff.
  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of the translation operational environment.
  • Good writing skills with proven experience in editing and proofreading French texts.
  • University degree in translation; program/course in administration (an asset).
  • Knowledge of translation tools and workflow management systems.
