Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer/Assistant Project Manager to join our team at Michels Canada. This role will be responsible for maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture, controlling expenditures, and reviewing field construction problems.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers, and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Control expenditures on projects and prepare and update engineering control documents.
  • Monitor design changes and contract extras.
  • Review, analyze, and resolve field construction problems/discrepancies.
  • Provide interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision.
  • Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada's Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree in a specific discipline with 5-7 years' experience or Tech diploma with 6-8 years related experience.
  • Related construction experience with a contractor; heavy civil, civil works, mechanical, and electrical.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Desired Skills/Qualifications
  • Experience with Primavera, Microsoft Project, Blue Beam.
  • Experience with chambers, structural work, valves, and subcontract management.
Language

Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
