About the Role
As a Surgical Day Care Nurse with Fraser Health, you will provide direct, individualized nursing care to outpatients with varying complexities of illness requiring minor surgical procedures, diagnostic endoscopy procedures or interventional therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Your expertise and compassion will play a vital role in the delivery of person-centered care.
Responsibilities
* Assess patients and collect information from various sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment skills.
* Make nursing diagnoses and determine whether the condition can be improved or resolved by a suitable nursing intervention.
* Observe patient acuity for significant changes to patient condition and intervene to provide and manage care as necessary.
* Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers to develop and implement care plans.
* Establish a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, advocating for patients' rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information.
Requirements
* Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
* Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
* Two years recent relevant clinical experience in the designated clinical area and completion of postgraduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area
