Job Description: Licensed Practical Nurse - Outpatient Procedures

The successful candidate will work as a member of our dynamic team at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C., supporting Surgical Day Care. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting practical nursing care for patients undergoing outpatient procedures.

You will also assist with the admission of patients to procedure/consultation rooms and perform intra-procedure/consultation duties, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively collaborate with other healthcare professionals and provide exceptional patient care.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • One year recent relevant clinical experience in minor surgical procedures or other outpatient procedures, and completion of relevant coursework and/or certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team verbally and in writing
  • Ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients and families/caregivers
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, and collaborate with and promote cooperation among members of the interprofessional care team
