Payroll and Payables Analyst Role

At CO_9998 Dagmar Construction Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Payroll and Payables Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is primarily responsible for providing analytical support to the organization, including compiling and remitting government and union filings, data analysis, and testing of changes in accordance with Company and statutory requirements.

This position requires an individual with strong attention to detail, an analytical mindset, who can operate well in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the month-end close process, reviewing and validating incoming invoices, supporting cheque run payments, and processing remittances related to payroll. Additionally, they will leverage technology to build efficiencies in payroll processes and reporting, develop and maintain reports used for payroll analysis, and perform payroll and payables administrative tasks as required.

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance/payroll capacity, with experience working with ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives, and be able to forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups. They will also be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and capable of handling challenges in a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the month-end close process by providing accurate and timely reports and reconciliations for management.
  • Review and validate incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
  • Support cheque run payments, while ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.
  • Process remittances related to payroll, including disbursements to benefit carriers, tax authorities, and worker's compensation, ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Leverage technology to build efficiencies in payroll processes and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain reports used for payroll analysis, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
  • Actively liaise with staff and management on payroll-related inquiries.
  • Perform payroll and payables administrative tasks as required.
  • Share knowledge and experiences with other team members.
  • Work independently, research complex payroll issues, and make recommendations for continuous improvements.
  • Maintain and safeguard confidential employee information and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Take ownership of various projects and meet specified deadlines.
  • Liaise with internal/external auditors, understand requirements, compile data, and reports in response to audit queries.
  • Help support upcoming ERP implementation.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a finance/payroll capacity.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives.
