The Senior Procurement Specialist is a key member of the FuelCell Energy team, responsible for developing and executing category/supply chain strategies to procure critical, complex, and high-value equipment and components. This role will also oversee supply chain operations, ERP data management, and communication with internal and external clients.
Key Responsibilities- Optimize the supply base, generate cost savings, and support current and new product development initiatives by ensuring continuous, on-time, and uninterrupted flow of materials to Production, MRO, Field Service, and R&D projects consistent with FCE policies.
- Responsible for Production, Project, and Service procurement and supply management functions relating to cost reduction and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives, including sourcing, bid analysis, supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and overall production schedule performance.
- Develop a global supply base that creates and sustains a competitive advantage for FCE, identifying and actively pursuing cost reduction opportunities, driving savings in line with overall business expectations.
- Manage cost models for suppliers, including price, volume, discounts, commodity cost forecasts, and cost drivers.
- Maintain ownership of the procurement process from component acquisition to invoice payment and warranty terms.
- Develop and maintain metrics for monitoring supply chain processes and take corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Responsible for maintaining an effective Kanban system with suppliers to improve inventory turns while maintaining 100% on-time shipment to customers.
- Ensure suppliers have current approved and released specs and drawings revisions.
- Participate in new product introduction, help identify and qualify new suppliers, and participate in supplier audits as required.
- Interface with Manufacturing, Finance, Engineering, Quality, and Shipping/Receiving personnel on material issues, invoicing issues, production planning, and other issues.
- Maintain all purchasing data in ERP.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience, plus a customer-focused approach to dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Intermediate experience utilizing an ERP system, with Microsoft D365 being a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver against deadlines.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to maintain excellent accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
