As the Business Strategist, you will be responsible for providing ongoing strategic and operational support to Calgary Transit (CT) with a focus on priority projects in transit revenues. In this role, you will work with various internal business units, civic partners, and local organizations to develop new transit revenue programs, researching industry best practices, analyzing CT data to develop political and strategic recommendations on technology adoption and implementation, business unit policy and operating procedures, evolving CT's revenue programs, as well as seeking new and innovative sponsorship and revenue generating opportunities. Primary duties include:

Develop and implement strategies and policies to guide business unit operations. Document processes and standard operating procedures. This includes developing and codifying Calgary Transit's approach to revenue generation. Build relationships with City staff, civic partners, external organizations, and event organizers. Manage revenue contracts and partnership agreements to include engagement, consultation and negotiation with various stakeholders, vendors, and partners. Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives in Calgary Transit, develop new processes and systems to support business unit goals, and identify and address emerging trends and opportunities. Lead interdisciplinary teams in Calgary Transit and externally (departmental and with civic partners) to develop process improvements, support team building, undertake data gathering and analysis, problem identification and resolution, use project management skills, and support strategic procurement. Identify and evaluate existing/emerging issues and develops plans, strategies, and tactics to address issues and monitor for improvement/resolution. Develop reports, presentations, and deliver recommendations to the public, departmental teams, business unit leadership, management teams, and City Council. Produce memos, briefing notes, presentations, Council reports, business cases, procurement documents to meet Supply's requirements, statistical reports, and financial analysis. Qualifications  A degree in Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Commerce, Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Management, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience including strategic planning, policy development, procurement, contract management, and business analysis. Experience with successfully implementing process and service improvement initiatives will be given preference. Experience in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, writing procurement documents and business cases, contract management, and Council report writing would be considered an asset.  Success in this position requires:Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills. Ability to prioritize, build consensus among internal/external partners and influence without authority.
