Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned medical leader to fill the role of Area Division Lead for Urology - Regina. This key position plays a crucial part in Saskatchewan's healthcare landscape, partnering with system leaders to achieve provincial healthcare goals.

About the Role

This leadership position reports directly to the Area Department Lead Surgery and Area Chief of Staff - Regina, supporting the work of the respective Physician Executive/Vice-President dyad and the Provincial Head. The successful candidate will work closely with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and Health System Colleagues to develop and achieve strategy by identifying gaps and needs.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership necessary for the seamless integration of academic activities, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical standards direction of the provincial department. The Area Division Lead ensures that operational standards are incorporated into daily work performed within the area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Area Department Lead and Area Chief of Staff in matters related to credentialing, privileging, and management of practitioner staff reviews according to Provincial Bylaws.
  • Work in partnership with the Area Administrative Structure and in consultation with members of the department in all matters relating to the operational plan for the delivery of high-quality clinical services consistent with the strategic needs of the area.
  • Co-lead the overall planning, programming, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Anesthesiology in Regina as part of a team-based approach for care delivery.

With the Provincial Head and in concert with the College of Medicine, the Area Division Lead will ensure that the academic mandate of the College of Medicine for teaching and research is supported within the Area.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).
  • Canadian Certified Physician Executive Credential would be an asset.
  • Advanced education in Health Care Administration, Public Administration, and/or Leadership Studies would be an asset.
  • Participation in the Canadian Medical Association's Physician Leadership Institute would be an asset.
  • Additional training and/or education in leadership/management would be an asset.
  • Experience at an operational level as a medical leader who has developed and led innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • 7+ years in a leadership position with progressive advancement.
  • Knowledge of and experience in guiding health quality improvement processes and initiatives.
  • Experience working in dyadic leadership roles and relationships.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.

$124,000 - $148,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
