The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating and a solid understanding of construction methods and materials. You will be required to work closely with our project managers and engineers to ensure that estimates are accurate and meet the needs of our clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing estimates of labour and material costs
  • Preparing estimates for general expenses and overheads
  • Project cash flow and financing requirements
  • Creating and submitting estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms
  • Advising on tendering procedures
  • Setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems
  • Monitoring and adjusting contract expenditures
  • Preparing and maintaining directory of supplies and trade contractors
  • Liaising, consulting and communicating with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications

Requirements:

  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in estimating or a related field

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with estimating software and systems
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
