The Opportunity

As a seasoned sales and marketing professional, you will have the opportunity to lead the charge in repositioning and rebranding The Algonquin Resort, a historic gem nestled in St. Andrews by the Sea. With a full renovation underway, we are seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Sales & Marketing to drive revenue growth, enhance brand visibility, and attract new clientele.

The Role

The Director of Sales & Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales and marketing strategies that align with the resort's vision and goals. This role is vital in leading our team in driving revenue growth, enhancing brand visibility, and attracting new clientele during our transformative journey and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement innovative sales and marketing plans to drive occupancy and revenue across all resort offerings.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels, aligning with the Marriott Autograph Collection standards and the unique character of The Algonquin Resort.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, competitive positioning, and customer preferences, using insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including social media, email campaigns, and website content, to enhance online presence and engagement.
  • Foster relationships with relevant businesses, tourism organizations, and influencers to expand outreach and drive referrals.
  • Lead and mentor the sales and marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
  • Analyze sales and marketing performance metrics, adjusting strategies to optimize results and achieve revenue targets.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration or Business preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience.
  • Marriott Brand Experience an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy.
  • Ability to inspire, lead and develop a team by example.
  • Act as owner of the hotel and communicate a clear sense of strategy and purpose.
  • Well organized, detail oriented with excellent follow-up.
  • Ability to convert vision into specific and tangible actions to benefit the hotel.
  • Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
  • Ability to adapt rapidly to evolving market dynamics and needs.
