The Approaches to Community Wellbeing department provides expertise, support, services, and programming in public health to the region. We work with communities to develop, implement, and monitor their own Approaches to Community Wellbeing.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting communities in developing and updating pandemic and emergency response plans;
  • Conducting training and refreshers for communities and Tribal Councils;
  • Maintaining records of community pandemic plans and emergency response plans;
  • Liaising with communities and Tribal Councils to ensure pandemic plans are updated annually;
  • Working with the Safe Communities Manager to maintain the ACW Emergency Response Plan.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in a health-related field;
  • Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone (an asset);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to develop and maintain respectful/cooperative relationships with First Nations people, communities, service stakeholders, and health care providers.
