Job Summary:

The Developmental Disabilities Association is seeking a skilled Community Support Specialist to join our team. As a Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting adult clients with their social, emotional, physical, vocational, recreational, and daily life skill development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients in achieving their greatest degree of independence in environments of their choice through participation in onsite and community opportunities.
  • Participate in the development of individual client service plans and assist with activities of daily living.
  • Plan and lead programming to support clients' goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure comprehensive support services are provided to clients.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in a field directly related to Social Services, Human Services, Education, or Therapeutic Recreation.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in vocational and community settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully implement instructional and proactive training programs for clients.
  • Ability to perform lifts and transfers of 40lbs and willingness to work in chlorinated swimming pools.
  • Experience with principles of positive behavior management is preferred.
  • Criminal Record Clearance, Medical Clearance, Satisfactory Driver's Abstract, Unrestricted Class 4 Driver's License, Valid First Aid/CPR, and Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
