Job Overview

LHH Knightsbridge is seeking an Executive Director, Dispute Resolution and Access to Information, to lead the strategic direction and performance of our department focused on access and privacy.

About the Role

The Executive Director will oversee the overall strategy, screening, mediation, investigation, and adjudication of appeals and complaints about access to information and privacy under various acts, including FIPPA, MFIPPA, PHIPA, CYFSA, and the Anti-Racism Act.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the Tribunal leadership team and approximately ninety-five staff in achieving the IPC's mandate, vision, mission, goals, and corporate values.
  • Advise the Commissioner on matters within your areas of responsibility and represent the IPC at public events.
  • Set and advance strategic direction, implement plans, and oversee operational strategies to deliver efficient, effective, timely, and high-quality services.

Key Qualifications

  • A minimum of seven years' experience practicing law in a combination of privacy, access to information, public, and administrative law, with membership in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial bar association.
  • A strong background in adjudication and alternative dispute resolution.
  • At least five years of experience in a senior management position in a legal, regulatory, or adjudicative agency in the federal, provincial, or municipal public sector, overseeing legal or dispute resolution teams.
  • Thorough understanding of the administrative justice system and relevant legal principles of procedural fairness.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Sound working knowledge of and practical experience with Canadian access and privacy laws, policies, and legal processes.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills to positively influence and communicate with staff, peers, counterparts, interested parties, and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to support professionals through organizational change and service optimization.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. LHH Knightsbridge offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous retirement savings plan.
