Job Summary

At Grace Hospital, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Ward Clerk. This role is responsible for providing administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring the smooth operation of our ward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and files.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments, procedures, and tests.
  • Process and manage medical records, reports, and correspondence.
  • Assist with data entry, reporting, and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with healthcare staff, patients, and families.
  • Stay up-to-date with hospital policies, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous patient care experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program required.
  • Medical terminology (75% pass mark) required.
  • Typing/keyboarding skills minimum 40 wpm required.
  • Current hospital-based information systems/programs; scheduling systems/programs preferred.
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
  • General administrative and secretarial skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The ability to multitask and prioritize tasks is essential.
