As a vital member of the healthcare team, Medical Office Assistants (MOA) deliver essential administrative and clerical support to physicians and other healthcare professionals. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including appointment scheduling and billing assistance as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing courteous and effective direct patient care, ensuring optimal use of resources.
  • Managing phone communications and responding to diverse forms of correspondence.
  • Drafting correspondence on behalf of medical professionals and the clinic, including letters, appointment confirmations, pharmacy communications, and laboratory materials.
  • Facilitating patient care by managing check-in processes and explaining procedures as directed by the physician.
  • Tracking and ensuring timely completion of tasks assigned by the physician through software, written notes, and verbal communication.
  • Handling billing and insurance documentation and preparation.
  • Confirming appointments with a minimum notice of two business days.
  • Transporting laboratory analysis samples of tissue and fluid.
  • Coordinating and confirming appointments to enhance clinic efficiency.
  • Overseeing monthly supply orders and maintaining inventory.
  • Executing administrative processes, including billing, insurance documentation, and other necessary tasks.
  • Maintaining medical inventory through the ordering of supplies and equipment.
  • Transitioning paper records to digital formats via data entry and updating patient records.
  • Fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Providing coverage at various desks and pods as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
