Position Overview

The Medical Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare facilities by managing administrative tasks and supporting clinical staff.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
Preferred Languages
  • Afrikaans is an asset.
Work Environment
  • Work settings include clinics and hospitals or medical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient interviews to gather case histories.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and confirmations.
  • Complete insurance and other claim documentation.
  • Order medical supplies and oversee inventory management.
  • Prepare and format electronic medical reports and correspondence, as well as spreadsheets and documents for review.
  • Establish and maintain confidential medical files and records.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversee a small team of 1 to 2 individuals.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Windows, and electronic mail systems.
