Position Overview

Reporting to the National Casualty and Bodily Injury Claims Leader, you will leverage your extensive experience in claims management. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the investigation, negotiation, and resolution of Senior Third Party Bodily Injury and Casualty claims, encompassing Automobile, Homeowners, and Commercial third-party claims. You are driven by challenges and are committed to personal and professional growth. Your role will involve managing a diverse portfolio of increasingly complex Casualty and Bodily Injury claims while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for managing a portfolio of Senior Bodily Injury, Casualty, and General Liability Claims under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  • Engage with all relevant stakeholders to ensure effective claims management, including underwriting and senior leadership.
  • Verify policy coverages, conduct thorough investigations to ascertain liability and damages, and maintain comprehensive file documentation.
  • Participate in mediations, pre-trials, and settlement discussions.
  • Negotiate settlements directly with claimants and their legal representatives.
  • Provide direction and instruction to Defence Counsel.
  • Mentor junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain professionalism, friendliness, and courtesy in all interactions with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Exhibit composure and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuously seek to expand your adjusting expertise and personal development.
  • Demonstrate adaptability as a team player in a dynamic work setting.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree, college diploma, or CIP designation.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in handling Bodily Injury/Casualty Litigation claims.
  • Significant experience in managing Commercial General Liability claims, including both Bodily Injury and Property Damage.
  • Professional demeanor with a focus on courteous interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • A genuine passion for coaching and mentoring junior staff members.
  • Dependable with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Focus on fostering engagement and a positive workplace culture.
  • Proficient in MS Office and possess strong computer skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
  • Licensing in multiple provinces is advantageous.
  • Atlantic licensing is a plus.

Compensation: Salary range is $55,800 - $102,800.
