Telesat is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, with offices and facilities globally.
Telesat values collaboration and the importance of in-person interactions. Consequently, our employees typically work from the office Tuesday through Thursday, reserving Monday and Friday for flexible work arrangements that suit their productivity. This approach encourages brainstorming, problem-solving, and the establishment of trusted relationships, allowing our team to convene three days a week to collaborate, innovate, and excel.
Position: User Terminal Project Coordinator - Antennas
This role involves joining the current engineering team tasked with collaborating with external technology vendors to provide user terminal solutions for Telesat. Reporting to the Director of UT Program Management, this position is critical as user terminals are being developed for various market segments under consideration by Telesat.
Main Responsibilities
- Establish and uphold project schedules, timelines, and milestones for multiple user terminal vendors, including flat panel antenna development and terminal integrators.
- Facilitate project activities across cross-functional teams, including system engineering, user terminal engineering, program management, and commercial sectors to ensure compliant solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee the scope (contract, statement-of-work, work-breakdown-structure, monthly executive reporting) requirements, schedule, milestones, risks, opportunities, and budget.
- Manage UT programs, including flat panel antennas, and report on their progress.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of both internal and external vendor development, identifying risks and challenges for the overall Lightspeed program.
- Generate necessary documentation for effective management and execution of UT programs in collaboration with technical experts within the engineering team.
- Prepare and circulate regular project status reports to stakeholders, highlighting risks, changes, and mitigation strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, preferably in communication systems or satellite terminals.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in project management within a STEM discipline.
- A Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
- Proficient in project management tools such as Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software (e.g., Primavera Cloud, Primavera P6, including Jira).
- Experience collaborating with external vendors, including design and manufacturing facilities.
- Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs, and resources effectively.
- PMP Certification is a plus.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Make decisions regarding task priorities as necessary while leading external vendor designs.
- Exhibit self-motivation and the initiative to see varied tasks through to completion.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a diverse global team.
- Communicate technical solutions in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
- Capable of executing in ambiguous situations and making sound decisions.
This role does not involve direct reports but is expected to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and/or provide technical assistance or guidance to other engineers or specialists; supervision of suppliers/contractors during supplier-facing activities.
Working ConditionsThis position is based out of the Ottawa, ON office. Full-time office or hybrid 60/40 office/remote arrangements are subject to work requirements. Working conditions are generally comfortable and typical of an office environment. Occasional travel, including international travel, is anticipated. Candidates must be able to obtain relevant security clearance if based in Canada.
