Consequently, our employees typically work from the office from Tuesday to Thursday, reserving Monday and Friday for flexible work arrangements that suit their productivity. This structure promotes brainstorming, problem-solving, and the development of trusted relationships, allowing our teams to convene three days a week to collaborate, innovate, and excel.

As the User Terminal Project Coordinator - Antennas, you will become an integral part of the existing engineering team tasked with liaising with external technology vendors to provide user terminal solutions for Telesat. Reporting to the Director of UT Program Management, you will oversee the development of user terminals tailored to the various market segments Telesat is exploring.

This role demands a proficient project coordinator with a background in technical development. You should be a collaborative team player, comfortable navigating a multi-functional organization that includes engineering, program management, business development, and sales.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, timelines, and milestones for multiple user terminal vendors, including flat panel antenna development and terminal integrators.
  • Coordinate project activities with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance in delivery solutions that are timely and budget-conscious.
  • Manage project scope, including contracts, statements of work, work breakdown structures, and monthly executive reporting.
  • Oversee UT programs, particularly flat panel antennas, and provide progress reports.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of both internal and external vendor developments, identifying risks and challenges for the overall Lightspeed program.
  • Create necessary documentation for effective management and execution of UT programs in collaboration with technical experts.
  • Prepare and disseminate regular project status reports to stakeholders, highlighting risks, changes, and mitigation strategies.
Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, preferably in communication systems or satellite terminals.
  • A minimum of 3 years of project management experience in a STEM discipline.
  • A Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools, including Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software (e.g., Primavera Cloud, Primavera P6, Jira).
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors, including design and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, opportunities, and resources effectively.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Articulate technical solutions in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Navigate areas of ambiguity and make sound decisions.
Supervision Exercised
  • No direct reports; however, this role is expected to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and provide technical guidance to engineers or specialists.
  • Supervise suppliers and contractors during supplier-facing activities.
Working Conditions
  • This position is based out of the Ottawa, ON office.
  • Full-time office or hybrid work arrangement is available, subject to work requirements.
  • Working conditions are generally comfortable and typical of an office environment.
  • Occasional travel, including international travel, is anticipated.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain relevant security clearance if based in Canada.
