Job Title: Project Manager Nuclear Power

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team in the role of Project Manager Nuclear Power. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will contribute to the continued growth and success of OPG in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise professional and technical staff, Power Workers union and construction trades, as assigned.
  • Develop work methods and make effective recommendations to Supervisor regarding staff issues.
  • Conduct performance appraisal interviews and administer collective agreements.
  • Provide advice and administer, diagnose and solve problems associated with Department facilities and specific project elements.
  • Define project objectives, scope, estimates, schedules, work plans and all resource requirements.
  • Integrate the efforts of all persons contributing to a project, including the customer, planning, finance, engineering, estimating, drafting, installation, quality control, radiation protection, safety, security, materials management, cost and schedule control, commissioning and documentation.
  • Coordinate and implement project technical work/solutions and initiate the acquisition of appropriate approvals.
  • Assess, evaluate, diagnose, identify, and recommend initial disposition of problems.
  • Prepare documentation of proposals, including equipment specifications, engineering calculations, installation, testing, operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Instruct staff through lecture, field training, operating procedures, and arrange for/execute tests and provide appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain and/or update operating and other specified Department procedures.
  • Review proposals received from internal or external sources and discuss proposal with originator as necessary.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of specifications for purchasing requisitions for material, services, and equipment.
  • Recommend research and development programs required to improve equipment, system(s), or unit reliability or performance.
  • Participate in training programs to further own development and the development of staff.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Department's annual budget and provide cost estimates for new products and update costs of existing projects.
  • Lead the application of quality principles to the work of the Unit, through enhanced service and team approach.
Requirements:
  • University degree or equivalent experience in project management, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • PMP is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years' experience in Nuclear, Project Management, and/or related fields.
  • 3+ years' experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the operation of nuclear generating plants, including specialized equipment, processes, tooling, techniques, and methods used, and the application of the specialty to nuclear generating stations and associated facilities an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong planning, managerial, and leadership skills.
