The Project Director for the Nuclear Island or Conventional Island will report directly to the Project Director - New Build, playing a pivotal role within an Alliance contract framework. This position entails overseeing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction for the Nuclear Island (including Reactor, Control, and Radwaste Buildings) or Conventional Island (Turbine, BOP) on a multi-billion-dollar nuclear power plant construction initiative.

This role demands strong leadership skills to guide all project team members, including engineering, procurement, project management, and construction, while also engaging with key external stakeholders. A successful Project Director will possess extensive experience in project delivery and execution methodologies, with a solid understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, contract management, and project control principles. The ability to lead large teams and foster a collaborative environment is essential.

Additionally, this role requires adept management of complex stakeholder interactions, including those with government entities, partners, vendors, and clients. Success in this position hinges on the ability to navigate alliance contracting dynamics while ensuring the project is completed on schedule and within budget, with a particular emphasis on nuclear safety.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Strategically plan and execute a program to fulfill the EPC scope for the Nuclear Island or Conventional Island.
  • Oversee all facets of one or more projects, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, cost, and contractual obligations.
  • Develop comprehensive scopes and deliverable definitions aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Lead contract development and negotiations, including scope management, requirements oversight, and governance for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear and industrial safety standards, including the enforcement of training and performance standards.
  • Implement key performance indicators to monitor project health and establish reporting protocols that meet contractual and corporate standards.
  • Guarantee that all project activities comply with ethical standards, cybersecurity regulations, and security protocols.
  • Manage procurement and subcontractor oversight, ensuring alignment with risk management and quality requirements.
  • Apply project controls methodologies for planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Develop and execute detailed project execution plans, providing comprehensive reports to clients and senior management.
  • Conduct thorough risk analyses in accordance with corporate standards and industry best practices.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Over 10 years of experience in various project types, including construction and engineering services.
  • More than 5 years of experience in leadership roles.
  • Proven strategic planning and execution capabilities.
  • Familiarity with large EPC projects, including subcontract and prime contract management.
  • Knowledge of nuclear supply chain and materials management.
  • A natural leader who fosters teamwork and collaboration.
  • Commitment to high standards of Health & Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Understanding of project delivery methodologies, including earned value and critical path scheduling.
  • Experience in Integrated Project Delivery or complex Joint Venture models is advantageous.
  • Experience in a live nuclear environment is essential.

  • Global experience in managing large engineering projects.
  • Experience in alternative energy solutions related to nuclear power is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
