Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Professional Engineering Year (PEY) Student. This exciting opportunity is part of our commitment to growing our social license and contributing to the safe and reliable operation of our plants.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineering and technical specialists to support the generation of various systems.
- Contribute to the overall objective of achieving an integrated environment dedicated to safe and reliable operation.
- Assist in developing and executing projects in compliance with nuclear industry regulations and standards using established project management processes.
- Maintain written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems.
- Pursuing an Engineering or Applied Science undergraduate degree on a full-time basis.
- By the start of the opportunity, will have completed 3rd year of a 4-year program or 4th year of a 5-year program.
- Have a minimum average of 70% cGPA (B-).
- Be returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term.
- Meet the minimum Internship or Co-op Program eligibility requirements as defined by your academic institution.
- Be enrolled in one of the following Engineering and Applied Science disciplines:
- Aerospace
- Chemical
- Civil
- Electrical
- Energy Systems
- Engineering Science
- Engineering Physics
- Industrial
- Materials/Metallurgy
- Mechanical
- Mechatronics
- Software/Computer
- Nuclear
- Structural engineering courses and experience (Civil position)
- Solid fundamental knowledge of engineering principles
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Aptitude in numerical analysis
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and troubleshoot
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Project management experience
- Organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
