Position Overview

Agricorp Ltd. is seeking a Senior Analyst to enhance our Program Development Division.

The Program Development Division is tasked with program evaluation, product innovation, and fostering relationships with industry stakeholders. This division is also pivotal in crafting new initiatives and facilitating program modifications to ensure efficient, transparent, and streamlined execution.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Analyst role resides within the Program Analysis Department, which leads legislative program reporting, program evaluations (e.g., AgriInsurance, AgriStability), premium rate determination, and quarterly program forecasts.

In this capacity, you will:

  • Guide the Program Analysis team in delivering all outputs (i.e., evaluations, forecasts, legislative reports, and premium rate determinations) while serving as a resource for coaching and advice to team members.
  • Design and sustain intricate forecasting models for programs administered by Agricorp.
  • Draft briefing documents, project outlines, and impactful presentations in response to both complex and straightforward analysis requests from various sectors within Program Development or other divisions.
  • Offer strategic options and sound recommendations to corporate committees (e.g., Risk Management Committee) and Senior Management Team regarding the evolution, maintenance, and enhancement of Agricorp's offerings.
  • Address highly complex, unprecedented challenges by leveraging a unique set of technical skills and methodologies, alongside personal experience and strong collaboration with colleagues.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to assist the business and industry in understanding the implications of program changes and identifying opportunities for improvement based on specialized knowledge.
  • Provide informed recommendations to the Program Analysis Manager for inclusion in departmental strategic plans.
  • Conduct assessments and provide recommendations to the Program Analysis Manager concerning the acquisition of actuarial services.
  • Mitigate reputational, financial, legal, and individual privacy risks to Agricorp by ensuring thorough analysis and sound assumptions in models.
  • Establish and maintain robust working relationships with key analytical partners in Agriculture & Agrifood Canada, Ministry of Agriculture Food & Rural Affairs, other provinces, Senior Management Team, and industry organizations.
  • Serve as a SME both internally (e.g., IT for larger programs and enhancements) and externally for complex reporting, data analysis for program enhancements, and mathematical methodologies.

Job Status: Permanent
Work Status: Full-time in-office, with remote and hybrid work options available.
Salary Range: Competitive compensation based on experience.

Qualifications
  • Minimum MSc degree, preferably PhD in AgriEconomics, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in analysis and project management.
  • A background in agriculture or agronomy is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including analytical software and database query tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in SAS as a statistical analysis tool, particularly in data management and reporting.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret, connect, and analyze information and situations by deconstructing them into component parts and identifying patterns and underlying issues.
  • Critical Judgment, Decision Making, and Problem Solving: Capable of making decisions and resolving issues involving various levels of complexity, ambiguity, and risk.
  • Initiative: Proactively identifies and addresses situations and issues, seizing opportunities as they arise.
  • Information Gathering & Processing: Skilled in locating and collecting data from relevant sources and analyzing it to create meaningful and concise reports.
  • Legislation, Policies, Procedures & Standards: Knowledgeable in relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and standards in executing work responsibilities.
  • Project Management: Proficient in planning, implementing, monitoring, and completing projects, ensuring effective management of scope, resources, time, cost, quality, risk, and communication.
  • Achieving Quality Results: Focused on self-management to achieve high-quality outcomes consistent with organizational standards while managing risk.
