The Role

The Senior Test Analyst plays a crucial role in strategizing, executing, and documenting all aspects of both automated and manual system evaluations of modifications, ranging from system integration assessments to production rollouts. This encompasses positive testing, regression assessments, non-functional evaluations, reliability checks, usability analysis, and the efficient management of maintenance and portability criteria. In this capacity, you will:

  • Thoroughly review and comprehend the system-related expectations.
  • Develop comprehensive test strategies utilizing static analysis and evaluation of user requirements, user narratives, system requirements definitions, and functional or logical specifications to ensure system functionality aligns with expectations.
  • Leverage prior expertise to assess the scope of testing throughout all phases of the project or initiative.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to facilitate methodical and efficient testing.
  • Execute end-to-end testing across integrated applications and technical platforms.
  • Ensure adequate test coverage to maintain quality standards.
  • Enhance testing methodologies to reduce manual effort and timelines.
  • Propose industry best practices, testing tools, and technologies to refine existing processes and procedures.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience to identify potential risk areas in systems and prioritize testing to uncover significant defects early.
  • Conduct tests, assess actual outcomes, and generate variance reports as necessary.
  • Assist test analysts in addressing problems and issues of moderate complexity.
  • Provide advanced technical support and guidance to test analysts.
  • Mentor and share expertise with test analysts and other personnel, both within the department and across the organization.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in system testing or quality assurance, including the creation and execution of test plans and test cases.
  • 3-5 years of testing experience preferred within the following internal system platforms: Farm Property Tax Class Rate Program, Provincial Premises Registry, and RMP livestock.
  • Post-secondary education in an information technology-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and the software testing life cycle, including estimation, test planning, requirement analysis, test case development, defect management, and test monitoring.
  • Experience in compiling and analyzing data, as well as creating reports and recommendations for management.
  • Proficient in estimating work effort, scheduling tasks, and regularly reporting progress.
  • Experience in writing queries against Oracle databases.
  • Familiarity with Agricorp's Zephyr system and the use of AEM, Adobe Forms would be advantageous.
  • Business knowledge of AgriStability, RMP SDRM, RMP G&O, RMP Livestock, and Production Insurance would be a strong asset.
  • ISTQB certification or equivalent testing certifications would be beneficial.
  • Working experience with JIRA tracking software would be an asset.
  • Agile testing experience would be an asset.
