JOB OVERVIEW

The EIA Client Support Specialist is essential in aiding students enrolled in the Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) program to navigate the necessary supports and approvals for their educational endeavors. This role encompasses providing administrative support to ensure the proper management and maintenance of critical EIA documentation and records. The position is vital for effectively addressing the needs of students concerning EIA, ensuring a seamless connection between educational programs and EIA services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver comprehensive support services to students, staff, and EIA as necessary. Advocate for students with Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) and Training and Employment Services (TES). Assist in the preparation of EIA documentation, including rental agreements, income declarations, bank statements, identification, and other required paperwork. Guide students in accessing EIA benefits effectively. Provide confirmation of student approval and enrollment to EIA and TES. Monitor attendance, academic progress, and withdrawals as needed, including exception reporting. Manage educational support for students in Grade 9 and under, as well as Grade 10 and over, on behalf of EIA and TES. Collaborate with TES to verify eligibility for educational support services. Coordinate with the finance department to disburse monthly funds, including miscellaneous, transportation, and childcare assistance. Support students facing challenges, such as EIA file holds or closures. Generate necessary documents for students as required by EIA or TES. Track monthly attendance and academic progress, reporting as necessary. Maintain record systems, including File Maker and other record management tools. Document student data and outcomes, including further training, education, employment, self-employment, or self-sufficiency in SPRS. Manage Winnipeg Transit Peggo and Ufare systems, including monthly loading of Peggo cards and tracking student usage. Order Peggo cards and monitor cash flow for students purchasing these cards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience directly related to the outlined duties and responsibilities.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Exceptional communication skills (oral, written, and listening). Ability to prioritize tasks, organize information, and interpret various documents. Proficient in composing and editing written materials. Experience in a client-focused environment. Detail-oriented with the capability to conduct follow-ups effectively. Demonstrated intermediate skills in information management, including accessing and organizing information according to established procedures. Ability to identify potential issues and seek prompt, effective solutions; adept at resolving routine administrative challenges. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and database systems.
