POSITION OVERVIEW

The EIA Client Support Specialist is essential in aiding students with Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) to navigate the necessary supports and approvals for their educational endeavors. This role encompasses providing administrative support to ensure the effective management and transfer of vital EIA documentation and records. The EIA Client Support Specialist is instrumental in addressing the needs of students related to EIA, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver comprehensive support services to students, staff, and EIA as required. Advocate for students with Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) and Training and Employment Services (TES). Assist in the preparation of EIA documentation, including rental agreements, income declarations, bank statements, identification, and other essential paperwork. Guide students in accessing their EIA benefits. Provide confirmation of student approval and enrollment to EIA and TES. Monitor attendance, academic progress, and withdrawals as necessary, including exception reporting. Manage educational support streams for students in Grade 9 and below, as well as those in Grade 10 and above, on behalf of EIA and TES. Collaborate with TES to verify eligibility for educational support services. Coordinate with the finance department to facilitate the distribution of monthly funds, including miscellaneous, transportation, and childcare assistance. Support students through challenging circumstances, such as EIA file holds or closures. Generate required documentation for students as requested by EIA or TES. Track monthly attendance and academic progress, providing reports as needed. Maintain record systems, including File Maker and other record management systems. Document student data and outcomes, including further training, education, employment, self-employment, or self-sufficiency in SPRS. Oversee the Winnipeg Transit Peggo and Ufare systems, including monthly loading of Peggo cards and tracking student card usage. Order Peggo cards and manage cash flow for students purchasing these cards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Strong communication skills (oral, written, and listening). Ability to prioritize tasks, organize information, and discern details from various documents. Proficient in composing and editing written materials. Experience in a client-focused environment. Detail-oriented with the ability to conduct various follow-ups. Intermediate information management skills, demonstrating the ability to access and organize information in accordance with established procedures. Capable of identifying potential issues and implementing effective solutions; adept at resolving routine administrative challenges. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and database systems.
