Tax Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our Finance team at CB Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing tax planning and compliance activities in the Canadian, U.S., and international tax areas, with the objective of minimizing tax and tax-related costs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the overall tax burden of the consolidated group of companies and minimize overall costs associated with the tax function.
- Manage tax accounting function, including reviewing the quarterly worldwide tax provision, preparing financial statement disclosures for public filing, and managing the preparation and timely filing of certain Canadian and foreign tax compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with tax and withholding taxes on revenue, including issues relating to the leasing of projection and camera equipment, the licensing of films, the provision of maintenance services, and all sources of revenue generated from U.S. sources.
- Optimize processes by redesigning manual processes to align with available systems, establishing and implementing best practices to track and analyze global income tax expenses and tax-related balance sheet accounts, and preparing and maintaining internal controls documentation.
- Collaborate with finance directors to properly calculate tax provisions and tax-related balance sheet items, communicate tax true-ups and other tax-related issues, and work with financial planning to manage effective tax rate forecasts and assist with the internal budgeting process.
- Grow and share knowledge by monitoring and analyzing legislative updates and technical guidance pertaining to tax reporting for impact on the global tax provision, developing and training more junior tax staff.
- University degree and CA or CPA designation, with completion of the CICA In-depth Tax Course.
- 3+ years in a financial accounting role, including time in the tax department of a public accounting firm or industry, with an in-depth understanding of tax planning, tax compliance, and tax return preparation.
- Familiarity with Canadian and provincial corporate income and capital tax legislation, U.S. federal and state corporate tax legislation, and U.S. GAAP reporting for income taxes.
- Expertise in developing and analyzing tax planning and tax minimization strategies, with high proficiency in Excel and software for data modeling, and exposure to SAP Financial and Accounting module.
- Proactive, resourceful, and process-oriented, with the ability to tackle problems using a logical, systematic, sequential approach, weighing possible solutions, considering costs, benefits, risks, and chances for success.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships and effectively communicate complex domestic and international tax guidelines and restrictions with internal and external teams.
