Job Title: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is a Registered Nurse with additional educational preparation and experience who possesses and demonstrates the competencies to autonomously diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform specific procedures within their legislated scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive health assessments and develop plans of care for palliative care patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Utilize a broad range of therapeutic modalities to manage symptoms and promote compassionate care of the terminally ill and their families.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective care delivery.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and staff on palliative care and pain management.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration in the Extended Class (NP-Adult) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Completion of a Master Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in palliative care.
  • Exceptional knowledge in palliative care and pain & symptom management.
  • Formal training and education in Palliative Care required with minimum of LEAP Course completion.
  • Eligibility for cross-appointment to an academic institution preferred.
  • Membership in specialty related organizations NPAO, RNAO.
