We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Algonquin Resort. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of our menu items.
Key Responsibilities- Food Cost Control: Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, and inventory to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and develop new menu items, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and presentation.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise and train kitchen staff, including cooks, chefs, and other kitchen workers, to ensure they are meeting our expectations.
- Inventory Management: Requisition food and kitchen supplies, and arrange for equipment purchases and repairs as needed.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all food prepared meets our quality standards, and that dishes are presented in a visually appealing manner.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and efficient operations.
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5 years or more of experience in a similar role.
- Certifications: Safe Food Handling certificate.
The Algonquin Resort is a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work under pressure. As a Sous Chef, you will be required to stand for extended periods, lift heavy loads, and work in a physically demanding environment.
