Project Manager – (full-time)

Westview Projects is a reputable general contracting firm operating in Eastern Ontario. Based in Ottawa, we focus on delivering exceptional construction management services tailored to institutional, multi-residential, commercial, and retail sectors.

As a key member of the Operations Team, the Project Manager plays a crucial role in distributing the primary contract to project team members for effective execution. This position involves planning, scheduling, organizing, and evaluating projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, specifications, and budgetary constraints. The Project Manager is responsible for identifying and resolving issues, guaranteeing that the team performs effectively and that the project reaches a successful conclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee project performance, including schedule adherence, cost management, equipment utilization, manpower allocation, material procurement, safety protocols, and quality assurance.
  2. Foster and maintain strong relationships with project teams, trade contractors, architects, consultants, and clients.
  3. Coordinate all construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, budgetary limits, and project timelines.
  4. Engage in project planning and execution processes.
  5. Conduct site inspections and safety evaluations, leading by example to uphold company policies and standards.
  6. Ensure thorough project close-out procedures are followed.
  7. Facilitate project meetings to promote communication and collaboration.
  8. Mentor, coach, and evaluate the performance of direct reports and team members.
  9. Assist in securing new projects by participating in estimates, collaborating with subcontractors, and contributing to proposals and presentations.
  10. Lead negotiations regarding claims and disputes with clients and subcontractors.
  11. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. A post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering or construction management.
  2. At least 5 years of progressive experience in the construction industry, with a focus on leadership and mentoring.
  3. Understanding of various construction methods, sequencing, problem-solving, and project timelines.
  4. Familiarity with construction project management software, including Jonas Premier, Plan Grid, and Blue Beam.
  5. Knowledge of relevant construction laws and building codes.
  6. Ability to troubleshoot construction-related issues, including sequencing and staffing challenges.
  7. Preferred experience in estimating for at least one year.
  8. Capacity to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  9. Proficient understanding of engineering and construction plans, specifications, methods, and procedures.
  10. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  11. Aptitude for building effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, and tradespeople.
  12. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  13. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
