We are seeking a highly skilled Product Applications Engineer to join our Grid Solutions team at GE Renewable Energy. Key Responsibilities- Product Strategy and Development: Progress the release of relay applications and software-defined substation automation solutions aligned with our business plans and operating rhythms.
- GridBeats iDS System and Product Level Application Strategy: Drive the GridBeats Integrated Digital Substation (iDS) system and iDS product level application strategy worldwide in coordination with Grid Automation regions.
- Product Management Support: Support Product Managers in developing the product/solution strategy, including product lifecycle management, multigenerational product plans, market segmentation & positioning, renewables strategy, go-to-market strategy, and pricing.
- Customer Connections: Support customer connections to link performance with customer expectations.
- Market Analysis and Feedback: Support Product Managers to promote an impactful product/solution offering by analyzing and providing feedback on in-depth technical/functional requirements from the market.
- Communication and Training: Support communication and cascading the activity offering and value proposition to various Grid Automation and Solutions Regions.
- Product Launch Support: Support delivery of detailed product/application training for Sales personnel and directly to customers.
- Product Issue Investigations: Support investigations on product application issues where required.
- Technical Expertise: Author and present expert-level conference papers on products and solutions, write magazine technical articles, and support Sales with in-depth product knowledge.
- Industry Participation: Attend and actively participate in industry Working Groups and committees.
- Customer Homologations and V&V: Give high-level input to customer homologations and V&V use cases and test specifications.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- Experience: Demonstrated years of experience in product management, product marketing, and/or technical application in grid automation portfolios.
- Knowledge: Good knowledge of Power System and Protection Applications for Transmission, Generation, Distribution, Industry, and Rail segments.
- Skills: Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, customer-focused, enthusiastic, and ability to work effectively across functions.
- Protocols: Familiarity with several of the following protocols: IEC61850, IEC 103, Modbus, DNP3.0, TCP/IP, Ethernet.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time.
- Extensive Experience: Extensive and demonstrated experience in industry-related sales, marketing, applications, or product management.
- Product Management Practices: Previous experience in product management practices and activities within GE, together with commercial customer knowledge and established relationships.
- Techno-Commercial Awareness: Techno-commercial awareness.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues.
- Project Management: Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously within stringent time constraints, requires discretion and independent judgment, and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers, stakeholders, and clients.
- Product Development Process: Knowledge of Product Development Process related to embedded and PC-based software and hardware in the Grid Automation protection and control field.
- Product Quality Metrics: Familiarity with product Quality metrics.
- Training: Six Sigma and/or Fastworks training would be a bonus.
