Counsellor for Wellness and Resilience in Accessibility Services

Position Overview:
The University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a dedicated Wellness & Resiliency Counsellor to join our Accessibility Services team. This role focuses on providing individualized and group counselling, workshops, and outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing the mental health and well-being of students with diagnosed mental health disabilities.

Your Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with Accessibility Advisors and other professionals within the department to deliver short-term, solution-focused counselling. This position involves case management for complex mental health scenarios, as well as facilitating referrals to additional resources both within and outside the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical counselling and psychotherapy tailored to individual student needs.
- Develop and implement treatment plans utilizing appropriate therapeutic methods.
- Create and lead group counselling sessions and workshops.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in assessment and therapeutic practices.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues in the field of mental health.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Counselling, or a related field, with active membership in a regulated health profession.
- A minimum of five years of full-time clinical counselling experience, particularly in community mental health settings.
- Proven expertise in addressing mental health issues, behavioral challenges, and crisis intervention.
- Experience working with university-aged students is crucial.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
