The University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as a Wellness and Resiliency Counsellor within the Accessibility Services department. This role is pivotal in providing individual and group counselling, conducting workshops, and engaging in outreach initiatives to support students with mental health disabilities.
About the Institution:
The University of Toronto Mississauga is a leading institution committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for a diverse student body. Our Health & Counselling Centre (HCC) is a multidisciplinary clinic that offers a range of medical and mental health services tailored to the needs of over 15,000 students.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver clinical counselling and psychotherapy tailored to individual student needs, while facilitating referrals to appropriate resources.
- Develop and implement treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Create psychotherapeutically-appropriate materials for group sessions and intake processes.
- Lead seminars and workshops aimed at enhancing student wellness and resilience.
- Stay informed on advancements in assessment and psychotherapeutic practices.
- Act as a resource for professionals within the department, sharing expertise and insights.
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in social work, counselling, or a related field, with current membership in a regulated health profession.
- A minimum of five years of post-internship clinical counselling experience, preferably in community mental health settings.
- Extensive knowledge of mental health issues, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
- Experience working with university-aged students is essential.
- Demonstrated intercultural competency and the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
- Strong organizational, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
