Counsellor for Wellness and Resilience in Accessibility Services

Position Overview:
The Wellness & Resiliency Counsellor for Accessibility Services plays a vital role in promoting mental health and well-being among students with disabilities. This position is integral to the Accessibility Services department, working under the guidance of the Lead Counsellor at the Health & Counselling Centre (HCC).

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group counselling sessions tailored to the needs of students.
- Facilitate workshops and outreach initiatives to enhance student engagement and resilience.
- Collaborate with Accessibility Advisors and other staff to provide comprehensive support for students with mental health disabilities.
- Implement short-term, solution-focused counselling strategies and manage complex mental health cases.
- Assist in the development of treatment plans and ensure timely referrals to appropriate resources.
- Stay informed about advancements in assessment and therapeutic practices.
- Contribute to the creation of psychotherapeutically appropriate materials for group sessions.
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in social work, counselling, or a related field, with active membership in a regulated health profession.
- A minimum of five years of post-internship clinical counselling experience, particularly in community mental health settings.
- Extensive knowledge of mental health issues, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
- Experience working with university-aged students and understanding their unique challenges.
- Strong communication, organizational, and group facilitation skills.
