Key Responsibilities
As a Support Worker, you will:
- Deliver both direct and indirect assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities, in accordance with their personalized support plans.
- Aid with daily living tasks, personal hygiene, medication management, and meal preparation.
- Monitor health conditions and provide necessary support.
- Help maintain a clean and organized living environment for those supported.
- Encourage community participation, self-sufficiency, and personal empowerment for individuals.
- Assist individuals in identifying and achieving their personal aspirations and goals.

- Foster self-expression through understanding both verbal and non-verbal communication, including alternative communication methods.

- Stay informed about community resources and utilize them effectively.
- Collaborate with team members, individuals supported, and their families to address challenges and resolve conflicts.
- Implement techniques and concepts related to non-violent crisis intervention (CPI).
Qualifications

- Completion or active pursuit of a Developmental Services Worker Diploma (preferred), or a Social Services Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Diploma, or a Degree/Diploma in Nursing (RNs, NPs, RPNs).

- Candidates with a University Degree and at least 6 months of experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual disabilities will also be considered.

- A valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G or G2), access to a reliable vehicle, and car insurance are required.
- Previous experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written).
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and engage with families as needed.
- Proficiency in a PC environment, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other relevant software.
- Current Standard First Aid / Level A CPR Certification is mandatory.
- Bilingualism in English/French or other languages is considered an asset.
