Academic Faculty Position in Chinese Thought and Culture

The University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Chinese Thought and Culture. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will also be eligible to be named the Richard Charles and Esther Yewpick Lee Chair in Chinese Thought and Culture. This endowed chair appointment would be for a five-year term and is renewable following a favourable review.

The successful candidate will be appointed to the Department of East Asian Studies, the Department of Philosophy, or the Department for the Study of Religion (or hold a joint appointment in two of the three units).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and conduct research in the area of Chinese Thought and Culture
  • Contribute to the development of the Department of East Asian Studies, the Department of Philosophy, or the Department for the Study of Religion
  • Participate in departmental and faculty-wide initiatives

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Established research and teaching record
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
