Position Overview
The Manager of Community Outreach is responsible for the strategic planning and daily management of outreach initiatives, harm reduction efforts, and food service programs. This role includes leading a dedicated team of unionized personnel, volunteers, and peer support workers to ensure the provision of exceptional services while meeting compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold a high standard of service delivery, program development, and operational infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with the Operating Agreement and relevant policies from governing bodies. Address any discrepancies and implement corrective measures as necessary.
- Assess and propose revisions to existing policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the management team to optimize operational efficiency.
- Foster a positive, healthy, and safe workplace environment in line with applicable laws and regulations.
- Identify and manage challenging behaviors to maintain a safe environment for both staff and clients.
- Assist in the financial planning and coordination of work scopes with the Director of Programs for contracted services.
- Ensure the responsible and effective use of financial resources in accordance with organizational policies.
- Monitor and report on program spending, identifying opportunities for cost savings and financial enhancements.
- Guarantee adherence to financial policies, including those related to grants and funding.
- Conduct interviews and select candidates with the necessary skills to advance the organization's mission.
- Ensure all staff receive comprehensive orientation and training to perform their roles effectively.
- Lead staff in building positive collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
- Manage staff schedules, approve timesheets, and handle time-off requests.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders and represent the organization effectively.
- Promote outreach initiatives and integrated service offerings.
- Engage with community resources and foster community participation.
- Oversee the operations of seasonal initiatives in collaboration with the Community Resources team.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of local social, economic, recreational, and educational resources and actively engage in community outreach activities.
- Represent the organization within the community through effective communication with all stakeholders, including health service agencies and government entities.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field of Human Services, along with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a human services context, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing staff in a unionized setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to make informed decisions promptly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Email, and database management.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain clearance through a Criminal Record Check.
- Certification in First Aid and MANDT or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is required.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance are necessary.
This position is open to all qualified applicants and is exempt from union membership. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in the Municipal Pension Plan.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Starting from $85,000.00 annually
