Adamson and AAI is looking for a skilled Specifications Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for a diverse range of intricate architectural projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting detailed technical documents, including specifications and contract materials, for integration into Project Manuals across various complex building types such as commercial, healthcare, and civic projects.
  • Analyzing architectural and engineering documents to assist project managers in sourcing relevant information.
  • Supervising the compilation of Project Manuals in collaboration with the project team.
  • Conducting quality control assessments of contract documents produced by both internal and external specification sources.
  • Mentoring Junior and Intermediate specification writers.
  • Providing educational support on specifications, technical materials, and new product technologies to staff.
  • Collaborating effectively with Project Managers, Architects, Engineers, and Designers.
  • Ensuring timely completion of tasks in accordance with project deadlines.
  • Contributing to the ongoing enhancement of office master specifications.
  • Coordinating the scheduling and production of Project Manuals to meet delivery timelines.
  • Working with project teams and IT staff to facilitate seamless information transfer and accurate document creation.
  • Conducting technical research on innovative building technologies and materials.
  • Serving as a resource for technical inquiries, detail reviews, and material selections.
  • Maintaining up-to-date technical documents, codes, and standards.
  • Managing information databases efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in the architectural field, with at least 5 years in North America.
  • A minimum of 5 years focused on specification writing for various building types.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a Diploma in Architectural Technology.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Specification Writer (RSW) or Certified Specification Practitioner (CSP).
  • Active membership in Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
  • Certified Construction Specifier (CCS).
  • Active membership in Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is an asset.
