We are seeking a highly skilled Specifications Coordinator to join our team at Diamond Schmitt Architects in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical focus and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the development of technical documentation, including construction specifications.

The successful candidate will have well-rounded architectural experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy office environment.

The key responsibilities of this role include working with project teams and external specification writers to develop project-specific project manuals, researching and documenting materials, products, and construction methods, and developing detailed architectural specifications for projects.

The ideal candidate will also have a degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or Architectural Engineering, and 5 years' experience in the development of technical documentation, including construction specifications. Designation as a Registered Specification Writer or Certified Specification Practitioner is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop project-specific project manuals with project teams and external specification writers
  • Research and document materials, products, and construction methods
  • Develop detailed architectural specifications for projects
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and industry standards
  • Coordinate with various disciplines and integrate their requirements
  • Assist in preparing bid documents and review contractor bids
  • Communicate with suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors
  • Keep specifications up to date with code changes and industry standards
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or Architectural Engineering
  • 5 years' experience in the development of technical documentation, including construction specifications
  • Designation as a Registered Specification Writer or Certified Specification Practitioner is an advantage
