Agile Project Leader - Financial Services: CB Canada is seeking an Agile Project Leader for a contract role within the financial services domain.

Job Overview

As an Agile Project Leader, you will play a pivotal role in fostering high-performing teams by facilitating project execution, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of agile methodologies and team dynamics. Additionally, you will need to navigate traditional project management approaches effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of large or multiple medium to high-risk IT initiatives while applying best practice standards and methodologies.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure project delivery expectations are clearly defined and successfully achieved.
  • Monitor agile processes and assist the Product Owner with release planning and backlog prioritization.
  • Enhance the team's grasp of Agile/Scrum principles and ensure these practices are consistently applied.
  • Align team actions with project objectives and vision.
  • Provide transparency to Business, IT, and Operations regarding the team's progress and agile practices.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning, helping teams adapt to evolving circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage detailed work plans, project timelines, estimates, and resource allocations.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, ensuring effective strategies and plans are in place for mitigation.
  • Facilitate effective and timely communication within the project team and between the team and stakeholders.
  • Lead and present product plans, reviews, demonstrations, and competitive analyses with the team, partners, and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with larger program teams to develop external communication and action plans utilizing tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and others.

Essential Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of progressive experience as an Agile Project Leader or Project Manager.
  • Experience in the financial sector.
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud technologies: AWS and Azure.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in implementing medium to large-scale technology/business projects, particularly in finance and treasury.
  • Agile certifications: Scrum Master, Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  • Experience managing projects involving third-party managed services.
  • Experience leading offshore and global projects.
  • Ability to navigate between Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Project, Office suite, and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, and SharePoint.
  • Background experience in project delivery.

  • Strong emphasis on relationship management and team development.
  • Ability to communicate project and technical information effectively and concisely to provide comprehensive recommendations to management.
  • Excellent influencing skills and the capability to manage challenging situations to resolution.
  • Strong facilitation skills to conduct successful meetings and ceremonies.
  • Ability to create project plans for complex initiatives with multiple interrelated paths.
  • Action-oriented, self-motivated, and solutions-focused.
