Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of controls engineers in the design and development of automated assembly systems. As a Team Leader, you will oversee the daily activities of your team, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and guide a team of controls engineers in the design and development of automated assembly systems.
  • Collaborate with the Applications Engineering team to support proposals and own jobs won from concept to through-life support.
  • Work with other project team members to develop a controls architecture that meets customer specifications and ATS standards.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of tools, methods, and modules to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Work with other teams to continuously improve methods and tools for integrating controls technology, driving enhanced safety and functionality.
  • Ensure that cost and schedule budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
  • Assign team members to direct labor activities.
  • Ensure that all work products produced by team members meet functionality, standards, accuracy, completeness, and safety requirements.
  • Approve material requisitions for projects assigned to the team.
  • Maintain labor, material, and schedule forecast information and execution improvement plans.
  • Ensure that scheduled milestones are achieved.
  • Provide primary technical assessments of team members for performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Controls Managers to set goals and manage successful performance for team members.
  • Lead and mentor team members.
  • Review and evaluate new controls-related products to provide a cost-effective and up-to-date controls solution.
  • Work with team members, customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide a compliant product or service.
  • Ensure that all employees under their direction are aware of and follow Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ensure that all employees receive job-specific training and provide written instructions as needed.
Qualifications:

Education: A post-secondary diploma, degree, or equivalent qualification in electrical, mechanical, or software controls technology.

Experience: Demonstrated experience in an industrial development environment, producing controls for automated assembly systems. Proven leadership qualities, including good oral and written communication skills, ability to work with and motivate team members, and a willingness to take responsibility for key aspects needed for job completion. Hands-on experience in programming and trouble-shooting with current PLC hardware and programming software.
