Job Summary

Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Philanthropic Advisory Specialist to provide strategic advice and guidance to high net worth and ultra high net worth clients in developing their family philanthropic and legacy plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement philanthropic strategies and solutions for clients, leveraging expertise in Canadian tax rules and issues unique to privately owned entities, entrepreneurs, and high net worth individuals.
  • Collaborate with RBC advisors and Family Office Services specialists to identify new philanthropy wealth planning engagements and opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth reviews of clients' current situations, taking into account their short- and long-term goals, and develop customized philanthropic strategies and solutions.
  • Deliver high-quality, tailored memos or PowerPoint presentations summarizing strategies and discussions, facilitating implementation of recommendations.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends in philanthropy and the national donor advised fund landscape, contributing to the development and refinement of the strategic vision and long-term goals for the RBC Charitable Gift Program.
Requirements
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required, as you will regularly serve clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada.
  • University degree in a relevant field.
  • 10 years or more of related experience in accounting, tax law, wealth planning, or philanthropy.
  • Strong knowledge and technical proficiency related to charitable giving strategies, issues, and trends.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills to build deep, trusted partnerships with target clients.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate and partner with colleagues at all levels across a global matrix organization.
  • Flexibility to travel locally and across Eastern Canada when required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional designation in a related area, such as CPA, LL.B, JD, TEP, MFA-P, or CFRE.
  • Master's Degree in Tax or completion of Levels I, II, and III of the CPA In-depth Tax Course is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of responsible investing and social impact investing.
