Key Responsibilities- Child Care and Supervision: Provide daily care and direct supervision to children in a staffed resource unit, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
- Environment Creation: Create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes learning and positive behavior in children.
- Meal Preparation and Organization: Prepare meals and organize mealtimes and snacks for children, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
- Hygiene and Grooming: Assist children in maintaining good hygiene and grooming habits.
- Activity Planning: Organize and participate in activities that promote learning and exploration for children.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of children's progress, routines, and interests.
- Legislative Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and agency policies and procedures.
- Shift Work: Must be able to work shift work, including 12-hour shifts, alone or with a team.
- Hours of Work: Shifts are typically 12 hours, 7:00-7:00, with varying levels of supervision.
- Call-Ins: Must be available to work with and without advance notice, including planned vacation coverage and sick calls.
- Education: Child Care Worker or Child & Youth Worker Diploma or higher.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a group home setting or related child care experience.
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit to work in a group home setting, with proof of immunizations.
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and have access to a vehicle with an OPCF6A Insurance endorsement and minimum of $1,000,000 Liability.
- Criminal Record Check: Satisfactory internal record check, Criminal record check (including vulnerable sector), and driver's abstract.
