Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supply Chain Project Engineering Manager, the Supply Chain Project Engineer is essential for the advancement and maintenance of distribution initiatives. This role involves managing technical specifications and aiding in the procurement and execution of ATOS/MHE projects, ensuring the successful delivery of programs and projects.
As a vital member of the engineering team, this position focuses on continuous operational enhancements. This includes analyzing and executing capital projects aimed at optimizing product flow within Distribution Center Operations in Supply Chain. The role also contributes significantly to strategic change initiatives.

As part of the Supply Chain Projects team, you will engage in a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment, ensuring dependable facility operations within the distribution network.

  • Develop comprehensive business cases, requirements, and cost-benefit analyses for capital projects.
  • Manage projects effectively, ensuring adherence to scope, quality, timelines, and budget using recognized project management practices.
  • Identify, design, and lead projects that foster efficient, productive, and cost-effective process improvements.
  • Present strategies, concepts, updates, and findings to various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee all capital investment requests, including charters, cost-benefit analyses, and necessary documentation.
  • Proficient in PLC Programming of Allen Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix PLC, RSLogix 5000, PanelView, Ethernet/IP, VFDs, MCCs, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Project Management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain or Distribution Center operations and processes.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment systems such as ASRS, Conveyors, AGVs, and Automatic Sorters.
  • Experience with Robotics is advantageous.
  • Understanding of substation, backup generators, fire alarm systems, HVAC, energy-saving, and lighting systems.
  • Knowledge of Building Code and Canadian Electrical Code is required.
  • Highly organized with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Ensure effective planning, scheduling, communication, documentation, and training for all process changes.
  • Manage and enforce process adoption, validate post-project savings, and maintain project schedules and deliverables while providing regular updates.
  • Prepare detailed CAD drawings, reports, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Operations group on current methods and document necessary changes.
  • Innovate and develop new processes for both new and existing equipment.
  • Assist in optimizing the flow of products and material handling processes throughout Supply Chain.
  • Support maintenance teams in resolving equipment issues and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with various internal teams, including Supply Chain Operation Crew Leads, Managers, and Maintenance Coordinators.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • An engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience. Professional Engineer designation or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in large-scale industrial facilities.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience.
  • Proven track record in structured project management training (PMP, etc.).
  • Experience with Supply Chain or Distribution Center operations and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Familiarity with Crown/Raymond material handling equipment, HVAC, roof replacements, paving/construction, ASRS, Conveyors, and Automatic Sortation systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with all levels within the Supply Chain.
  • Proficient in MS Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Competent AutoCAD user.
  • Ability to respond to operational schedules to ensure that equipment or physical changes do not disrupt Supply Chain operations.
  • Balance the needs of maintenance and operational requirements with the necessity to complete work while consulting all stakeholders.

  • Work environment includes distribution production and office settings.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
