Job Overview

Reporting to the Crew Planning Manager, the Strategic Crew Planner is tasked with overseeing the annual and monthly vacation allocation processes. This role involves collaborating with the Crew Planning Manager to assess fleet vacancies and staffing requirements, while also working closely with the Pairing Analyst to develop monthly crew pairings across both fleets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the annual and monthly vacation bidding procedures, evaluating available slots based on seniority and current availability
  • Monitor and allocate vacation time utilizing Google Sheets and enter data into the 'N-Ops & Crew' management system
  • Facilitate direct communication with crew members regarding vacation inquiries, adjustments due to operational shifts, and monitor entitlement reductions resulting from Leaves of Absence (LOA)
  • Address the planning requirements for two distinct fleets simultaneously, ensuring that vacancy awards are published within the designated timeframe
  • Adjust to varying regulations, crew qualifications, and operational considerations unique to each fleet
  • Actively engage in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents encountered during daily operations; understand, comply with, and promote the Company Safety Policy

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of managing complex logistics and scheduling tasks
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effective in working with multiple departments and levels of management
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and crew satisfaction.
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently
