As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide trauma-informed nursing care to clients with complex physical and mental health needs. Your expertise will be essential in delivering high-quality care and promoting a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct health care services to clients with a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, including communicable diseases, substance dependency, and mental health issues.
- Perform physical, substance use, and psychiatric assessments, refer clients to physicians for further examination, and administer prescribed treatments and medications.
- Observe, monitor, evaluate, and document client progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and perform various health care interventions.
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, other healthcare professionals, clients, families, and the community to provide comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate computerized and paper records, prepare statistical information, and document patient/family perspectives and nursing observations.
- Use appropriate supplies and equipment, problem-solve equipment malfunctions, and handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials and sharps.
- Participate in incident investigations, respond to emergencies, and provide first aid to injured persons.
- Apply an evidence-based approach to clinical problem-solving, evaluate results, and participate in unit/team/program activities to enhance care delivery.
- Demonstrate and provide guidance on clinical and health-related tasks to designated caregivers and students.
- Maintain standards of nursing practice, develop professional competence, and participate in committees to promote optimal support for clients.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Two years' recent experience providing trauma-informed acute or community health nursing care/services to patients with complex needs.
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 certification.
