Job Summary

Your expertise will be essential in delivering high-quality care and promoting a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide direct health care services to clients with a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, including communicable diseases, substance dependency, and mental health issues.
  2. Perform physical, substance use, and psychiatric assessments, refer clients to physicians for further examination, and administer prescribed treatments and medications.
  3. Observe, monitor, evaluate, and document client progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and perform various health care interventions.
  4. Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, other healthcare professionals, clients, families, and the community to provide comprehensive care.
  5. Maintain accurate computerized and paper records, prepare statistical information, and document patient/family perspectives and nursing observations.
  6. Use appropriate supplies and equipment, problem-solve equipment malfunctions, and handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials and sharps.
  7. Participate in incident investigations, respond to emergencies, and provide first aid to injured persons.
  8. Apply an evidence-based approach to clinical problem-solving, evaluate results, and participate in unit/team/program activities to enhance care delivery.
  9. Demonstrate and provide guidance on clinical and health-related tasks to designated caregivers and students.
  10. Maintain standards of nursing practice, develop professional competence, and participate in committees to promote optimal support for clients.
Qualifications
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Two years' recent experience providing trauma-informed acute or community health nursing care/services to patients with complex needs.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 certification.
