Job Title: Director, Legal

About the Role:

MarshallZehr Group Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Legal to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in leading, managing, and documenting our underwriting and funding activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in leading and managing the Legal team, including providing coaching, mentorship, and guidance to team members.
  2. Prepare regulatory documents related to funding loans and issuing advances, and manage all security documentation required to close the loans and advances.
  3. Coordinate with external legal counsel in the preparation, negotiation, execution, and processing of all documentation.
  4. Coordinate internally with Account Managers, Project Managers, and Analysts to ensure seamless execution of fundings and advances.
  5. Support the Principal Broker in complying with regulatory requirements, as needed.
  6. Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Legal Analyst team, including overseeing annual performance reviews and driving team OKRs.

Requirements:

  1. Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Law Clerk, Legal Studies, or Paralegal Studies.
  2. Experience in Mortgage Administration, Asset Management, Commercial Lending, Banking, Financial Services, Real Estate Law, Real Estate Development, and/or Underwriting is an asset.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and generally adept with technology.
  4. Ability to obtain a mortgage agent license with FSRA (paid for by MarshallZehr, if selected).

Work Environment:

MarshallZehr offices are open Monday to Friday, and employees are expected to work on site a minimum of 4 days per week, with the option of working remotely 1 day per week, as agreed to by the direct supervisor.
