Director, Tax and Insurance Planning

At Sun Life Financial, we're seeking a highly skilled Director, Tax and Insurance Planning to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you'll be responsible for providing complex tax and insurance planning support in the areas of insurance, retirement, estate, and business succession planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Estate Financial Planning Service (EFPS) representatives, Directors of Advance Planning (DAPs), Regional wholesalers, and advisors to provide expert tax and insurance planning support.
  • Develop and deliver sales and technical training presentations to advisors and distribution partners to enhance their knowledge of tax and insurance planning concepts.
  • Analyze sales concepts, tools, and products to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for future development.
  • Participate in industry meetings and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest tax and insurance planning trends and best practices.
  • Develop and implement advisor tools that support the sales of individual life, health, and wealth products to affluent clients, ensuring compliance with tax, legal, and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Law degree or accounting designation.
  • Tax and estate planning experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance taxation, including the impact on products, policyholders, and Sun Life corporate.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leaders, industry peers, and finance officials.
  • Ability to influence business partners and industry peers to support Sun Life's positions.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
